Dr. Tom is a comprehensive and glaucoma ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), incisional glaucoma surgery, and ophthalmic lasers. Dr. Tom employs the latest technology in the treatment of cataracts, including premium lenses that reduce the need for glasses. She is fellowship-trained in complex glaucoma surgeries such as trabeculectomy and tube shunts. Her expertise in the diagnosis and management of general eye conditions was honed during her ophthalmology residency at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School. She then trained with a glaucoma fellowship at the renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami.

Dr. Tom received her Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from Princeton University and her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. A member of the American Glaucoma Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, she has published her research in Ophthalmology Glaucoma and other peer-reviewed journals. She has presented at international and national conferences such as World Ophthalmology Congress and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Castle Connolly Top Doctor named her a “Rising Star” three years in a row. Additionally, she is fluent in Spanish and has performed manual small incision cataract surgery for patients in El Salvador and India.

Raised in Columbia, Maryland, Dr. Tom enjoys spending time with family and friends. Outside of work, her hobbies include hiking, travel, and cooking.
